Mokka Java – French Roast
$16.50
The combination of Mocha and Java is believed to be the world’s oldest commercially sold coffee blend. The name Mocha comes from an age-old Port in Yemen on the Arabian Peninsula.
Many American coffee drinkers confuse the blend name “Mocha” with the chocolate and steamed milk espresso beverage they might order from a cafe or espresso bar. Because of the name “Mocha’ there is often a confusion and expectation that the roasted beans will taste like chocolate. It gets a bit more confusing. The “Mocha” you buy in your Mocha Java whole bean coffee blend may be from Yemen or Ethiopia. Ethiopian Harrar (“Mocca” or “Moka”) and Ethiopian Yirgacheffe are also used as Mocha in this traditional blend.
Our Mokka Java is nether from Yemen nor Java. It is rather a traditional blend – hundreds of years old – between our excellent Ethiopian Yirgacheffe and our classic Sumatra Mandheling.
